I’m only gonna say this once. The yolk must not be cooked! The yolk must be wet! If you manage to cook the yolk, you have failed this recipe. You must do it again, again, and again, until the egg white is 100% cooked and the yolk is 100% wet. Any other way is wrong. “But I hate eggs when the yolk is uncooked”, you say. Well… why are trying to cook this. If you don’t like sunny side up eggs, you will not like this. But if you do. Then read on.
- 1 slice of thick 100% Whole wheat bread
- 2 tbsps of butter or coconut oil
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper
- 1 pinch of greatness
STEP 1) With a cookie cutter or a cup, cut out a hole in the center of the bread (without cutting the edges).
STEP 2) Place bread in and nonstick pan with 1 tbsp oil at medium heat. Cook on each side for 1 minute or until golden brown on each side.
STEP 3) Lower heat to low or simmer. Add in the remaining oil in the center of bread where the hole was cut out. Then crack in egg, making sure the egg yolk does not break. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
STEP 4) Flip bread without breaking yolk (Try spraying the egg with nonstick cooking spray before flipping). Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
STEP 5) Top with salt, pepper, and a pinch of greatness and enjoy.
For more flavor spread finely chopped garlic, onion, basil, parsley, and cheddar cheese on bread before cooking to give the bread a garlic bread taste.
